Up and Coming…

Updated: June 3, 2022

Please note: All of our courses, events and workshops are being offered online at the present time. As they fill up quickly, it is recommended to register early to avoid disappointment.

Basic Training Course

Each spring and fall we offer a 9-week Basic Course in Pastoral Care. Because the current situation with the pandemic requires us to deliver our courses and events online, we are presenting our Basic Courses over 9 weeks.

Our Fall 2022 Basic Course will begin on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022 and run weekly until Nov. 21, 2022 (excluding Thanksgiving Monday) in-person from 1pm to 3:15pm OR on Zoom from 7pm to 9pm. For more information about the course and how to register, please see the Fall 2022 Basic Course brochure.

Continuing Education Event

Twice a year, spring and fall, we bring in special speakers for Continuing Education Events.

Our next Continuing Education event will take place on Tuesday, November 15. Join us on Zoom from 7pm to 9pm as Pam Grassau leads us on an exploration of HELP (Healthy End of Life Project) Ottawa.

HELP Ottawa is a major, local initiative which has the potential to transform how we think about, care, and support one another when illness, dying, death and grief and loss occurs in our lives, and the lives around us. It has the potential to enrich our approach to pastoral care.

For more information about the event and how to register, please see the Fall 2022 Continuing Education Event brochure.

Advanced Course

Every second year, we bring in community professionals to present on topics of interest and relevance to pastoral care volunteers. The next 4-week Advanced Course will take place on the first 4 Tuesdays of October 2023. For more information about the course and how to register, the brochure will be made available here in 2023.

Coordinators’ Event

Every second year, we hold an event for Coordinators of Spiritual/Pastoral Care Teams/Departments (or their delegates). There is a facilitated discussion on a topic of relevance to team coordinators along with opportunities for networking and sharing ideas. These events are designed to assist in the effective operation of a Pastoral/Spiritual Care Team of Churches, Long Term Care Facilities or Retirement Homes/Residences.

Our next Coordinators’ Event will take place in 2023. A flyer with information about the event and how to register will be available here early in 2023.

For more information about our courses or other events, please visit the Courses page or contact us.

“the highest form of hospitality”, of the sort that does not set out
“to change people, but to offer them space where change can take place.”
